Do you remember the first message or sermon that was taught or delivered your very first Sunday in your current church? I do, Curtis delivered a message entitled in “It Can’t Be Done.” This morning I woke up to that text or my notes not intentionally. I grabbed my Life Application Study Bible, New Living Translation, which is usually beside my bed and pulled out the piece paper that was peeping out and there were my notes from that day. Now I have to admit I have not visited that NLT for awhile, probably even a year, but this morning I needed those notes, and I needed the foundational passage of scripture. 1 Peter 1, wow…what a way to start a Friday morning, I will not include all of chapter one, I do encourage everyone to read it. However, I will point out the Good News!
Verses 2-7 God the Father chose me long ago, and the Spirit has made me holy, As a result I have obeyed Jesus Christ and am cleansed by his blood. God has given me the privilege to be born again. Now I live with wonderful expectation because Jesus Christ rose again from the dead. God has reserved a priceless inheritance for me, this salvation, because I am trusting him. I am truly glad! There is wonderful joy ahead, even though it is necessary to endure many trials for awhile. These trials are only to test my faith, to show that it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold – and my faith is far more precious to God than mere gold!
Hoping for Heaven!
